LEARN MORE ABOUT THE EVENTS

Airport Departures

Hello Canada 55 Games Participants,

For those of you who have requested transportation to the airport starting on Saturday. We do have some important information for you in regards to the transportation for airport departures starting on Saturday August 26th.

The airlines are requesting you be at the airport 2 hours prior for check-in. Therefore we require you to be at your hotel pick up point 3 hours in advance for pick up. The charter busses are picking up at a number of hotels and will not be able to wait for anyone.

Federal regulations require that you wear a facemask in airport during the check-in and security screening process, as well as on the plane so please ensure you have one. Masks will not be available from the bus drivers.

**Food and beverages at the airport is currently limited to wraps, sandwiches, muffins, pastries, coffee etc. This is available once you have gone thru the screening process and are in the departures lounge.**

Note : If you are staying at an Air B&B or a private residence you will need to arrange own transportation to the airport. If you have a flight time of 6:00 am, 6:10 am or 6:30 am we request that you be at your pickup spot at 3:00 am.***

Message from the President of the CSGA

November, 2021

The Canadian Senior Games Association has a responsibility to provide an environment that is both safe and welcoming in the matters of protecting everyone attending the Games. To that end, we continue to work closely with the 2022 Games Host, Kamloops, BC to ensure this event will provide a safe environment for all.

We are genuinely excited and very optimistic as we, along with the Host Committee bring these long- awaited games together and are counting down the days to the Opening Ceremonies scheduled for August 23 and Wrap-up Banquet on Friday, August 26, 2022.

The reality of bringing the Canada 55+ Games together in the current and challenging circumstances, requires the need to adhere to all government health policies and regulations as we move forward. Vaccination policies are certainly on everyone’s minds as we move forward.

It is the aim of the CSGA along with the Host Committee to provide, a Games, that will fulfill all aspects of the CSGA mission and objectives. In addition, we will be listening and respecting all health-care policies, protocols, and guidelines to ensure all stakeholders, can relax and enjoy this great opportunity to come together from across Canada.

Registration is currently planned to commence as early as March 1, 2022, and close in May 2022 for most provinces/territories. More to follow.

In the meantime, stay well, safe and in touch with your provincial/territory associations/coordinators for further updates, announcements, and specific details.

About the Games

The Canada 55+ Games is a large multi-sport event with over 2500 participants competing in 26 different events. The Canada 55+ Games are open to adults aged 55 years and over as of December 31 of the year in which the Games are held.

The Games focus on the social, physical and psychological well being of the participants through participation in a multi-day event. The Games are held over four days in late August every two years (even numbered years), and participants must qualify through their provincial 55+ games competitions.

The Games offers opportunities for enrichment, fulfilment and improved quality of life provided by participation in a broad variety of athletic, recreational and social events. Although the very nature of the Games is to declare a winner, or winners, the aspect of winning is secondary to the social side related to reuniting with friends from Games past.

Over the four days of the Games participants are treated to 3 days of competition, Opening Ceremony, Special Events, and a Closing Ceremony with banquet and dance.
