The Kamloops 2022 Canada 55+ Games will welcome the nation’s best 55+ competitors as they participate in 26 official events in Kamloops, British Columbia, August 23-26, 2022.

Kamloops, British Columbia, August 15, 2022 –Listen closely Kamloops, as the calm before the storm settles into the city and the community prepares for what is to come. In less than seven days, Canada’s Tournament Capital will be inundated with over 5000 Canadians for the 2022 Canada 55+ Games.
Ice rinks are being flooded, soccer fields are being cut, and tennis courts are being swept as 26 official events prepare to showdown from August 23rd to 26th with 2797 participants and their supporters preparing to complete in the games and explore all that Kamloops has to offer.
Over the four days of the Games participants will be treated to 4 days of competition, Opening Ceremony, Special Events, and a Closing Ceremony with banquet and dance. Tickets for the Opening Ceremonies are already sold out, but Closing Ceremony tickets are still available and can be purchased online. On Thursday, August 25th, Barney Bentall will be going into the wild at the BC Wildlife Park and everyone is welcome, tickets are available online at YKA Now.ca
The games will be made possible with the support of over 600 volunteers, hosting competitions at 28 venues throughout the city. Organizers are working hard to put together the behind-the-scenes logistics but their asking for your help.
“We are encouraging all of our local restaurants and attractions to staff up and be prepared for a major influx of visitors throughout the week.” Said Lisa Strachan, Tourism Kamloops. Adding, “this is going to be a fun-filled week of competitions, socialization, and special events. Kamloops is widely known for our hospitality, and we are looking forward to showing all of our 55+ Games competitors and their supporters everything we have to offer!”.
The Canada 55+ Games is a large multi-sport event open to adults aged 55 years and over and focus on the social, physical and psychological wellbeing of the participants through participation in a multi-day event. The Games offers opportunities for enrichment, fulfilment and improved quality of life provided by participation in a broad variety of athletic, recreational and social events. Although the very nature of the Games is to declare a winner, or winners, the aspect of winning is secondary to the social side related to reuniting with friends from Games past.
