There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with your community this Fall season! The Kamloops Community Volunteer Services Society is a great resource to find way to volunteer and support local organizations.
Not sure where to begin? Think about what you are most interested in or what your hobbies are. You can then begin your search to find volunteer opportunities that fit in with those interests. Like to spend time in the garden? The Kamloops Food Policy Council is on the lookout for some gardeners! Like to paint? Why not see if the Kamloops Art Council has some volunteer positions open? The Volunteer Kamloops website is filled with volunteering opportunities that are sure to keep you busy and involved within your community! Another great resource would be to sign up for the Kamloops Sports Council’s monthly newsletter! It is here that you can stay up to date on any volunteer positions that they have available. Tourism Kamloops also has volunteer opportunities, so be sure to keep checking back to their website to find positions that align with your interests!
If you are not in the Kamloops area and are interested in becoming more involved in your community nationally, Volunteer Canada is another great resource for older adults to find out more about the importance of volunteering and staying active in their community. Volunteer centres nationally, know that keeping the community safe and healthy is a top priority at this time and protocols can differ depending on which province you reside in. Thankfully, they have broken down available volunteer centres to contact if you are interested in volunteering opportunities in your community!
The Kamloops 55+ Games rely heavily on our strong network of volunteers that make the games a success! It is always an exciting time in Kamloops and we appreciate everyone who supports the games. Consisting of 26 competitions in some of the best sports facilities in British Columbia, we will need 1000 volunteers to make it all happen. We cannot wait until we can all gather again and we thank you for your continued support, we look forward to a successful event in 2022.
