Message from the President of the CSGA

February, 2021

The Canadian Senior Games Association believes there has, never, in our history, been a more important time than right now for individuals to look for alternative ways to maintain their physical/mental programs and social connections. Knowing and understanding what a positive impact it will have on their day to day health and well-being is so critical.

Our mission, as stewards of the Canada 55+ Games, is to oversee the successful delivery of a high quality Games. We strive to offer a blend of events that are physically active and mentally challenging, while promoting the Games as an avenue which encourages active, healthy lifestyles for adults 55+ in Canada.

The next Canada 55+ Games are scheduled for August 23 – 26, 2022 in Kamloops, BC. Our continued work with the Kamloops Host Committee inspires our sincere and optimistic commitment to see this great event happen as originally planned.

While it still appears we face challenges on the road ahead, there are many, many signs to encourage optimism. We hope all Canadians can move forward in the very near future in such a way as to be able to live and enjoy life in a positive way.

We very much look forward to seeing the return of our many past participants/non-participants and hope to welcome others to the next games in 2022 as well as future games.

On behalf of the CSGA, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you to “Stay positive. Be safe. Stay well”. I look forward to meeting you in Kamloops in 2022.

About the Games

The Canada 55+ Games is a large multi-sport event with over 2500 participants competing in 26 different events. The Canada 55+ Games are open to adults aged 55 years and over as of December 31 of the year in which the Games are held.

The Games focus on the social, physical and psychological well being of the participants through participation in a multi-day event. The Games are held over four days in late August every two years (even numbered years), and participants must qualify through their provincial 55+ games competitions.

The Games offers opportunities for enrichment, fulfilment and improved quality of life provided by participation in a broad variety of athletic, recreational and social events. Although the very nature of the Games is to declare a winner, or winners, the aspect of winning is secondary to the social side related to reuniting with friends from Games past.

Over the four days of the Games participants are treated to 3 days of competition, Opening Ceremony, Special Events, and a Closing Ceremony with banquet and dance.
